EVENT CAMP ENTRY

Camp Entry Form 2018 (002)

It won’t be long before it’s time for our annual spring Event Camp.  We are looking forward to another exciting and fun-filled weekend, with some new instructors and speakers, and (hopefully) some new jumps to practice over!  Camp is set for March 24-25 at The Oaks Equestrian Center of Lake City again this year.

I will be sending out the camp entry forms and info sometime next week.  Opening day for sending in entries will be Tuesday, March 6, so mark your calendars if you plan to attend, and be sure to mail in your applications on opening day, as spots fill up quickly, and we can only take 20 riders to keep the groups to a minimum.  As usual, if we oversubscribe, we will have a drawing (as normal events do) for entries, but preference will be given to FHTA members.  We’d like to accommodate our newer members as much as we can, since Event Camp is a wonderful experience for anyone wanting to gain more experience about our sport.

Our instructors this year will be Chris Cox from Citra, who expertly handles the Green Bean class every year and does a fantastic job explaining all three phases to her group throughout the weekend.

Janet Andrews, from Cocoa, will be teaching the cross-country.  (she was one of our instructors once when we had camp at Canterbury).  She has ridden up through Advanced Level in the past and is now bringing along some very nice young horses.

Mikaila Herold, from Alachua, will be teaching the dressage phase.  Mikaila has a farm in Alachua, and brings some young prospects along and has shown up through the 1* level events.  She has studied dressage in Europe as well.

Henriette Borst (Yet) is teaching the show jumping phase.  Yet is from Ft. White, and is a popular local trainer in this area.  She has evented through the Preliminary level, and is training hunters and jumpers at her farm.  Several of her clients are competing on the show circuit now.

As always, we can use more volunteers for the weekend, so if you are available to help out anytime, please let us know.  We will run the usual format of Friday afternoon check-in, two rotating sessions on Saturday, and a third on Sunday morning.  For those interested in attending the  big Grand Prix jumper show at HITS in Ocala on Sunday afternoon, Lori has arranged for free tickets/box lunches.  For any of you staying at camp Sunday afternoon, we will run a short competition so you can practice what you learned over the weekend.

Entry fee is only $150/weekend, so make your plans and mark your calendars.
